We assessed persistent symptoms in pediatric patients previously diagnosed with COVID-19.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv class=\u0022section\u0022 id=\u0022sec-2\u0022\u003E\u003Ch2 class=\u0022\u0022\u003EMethods\u003C\/h2\u003E\u003Cp id=\u0022p-22\u0022\u003EThis cross-sectional study included all children \u226418 year-old diagnosed with microbiologically-confirmed COVID-19 in Fondazione Policlinico Univeersitario A. Gemelli IRCCS (Rome, Italy). Patients \u0026gt; 18 years-old or with severe disability were excluded. Caregivers were interviewed about their child\u2019s health using a questionnaire (supplementary material) developed by the Long Covid ISARIC study group (\u003Ca id=\u0022xref-ref-3-1\u0022 class=\u0022xref-bibr\u0022 href=\u0022#ref-3\u0022\u003E3\u003C\/a\u003E), for evaluation of persisting symptoms. Participants were interviewed by two pediatricians, either online or in the outpatient department, from September 1\u003Csup\u003Est\u003C\/sup\u003E to January 1\u003Csup\u003Est\u003C\/sup\u003E. Participants were categorized into groups according to symptoms status during the acute phase (symptomatic\/asymptomatic), need for hospitalization and time from COVID-19 diagnosis to follow-up evaluation (\u0026lt;60, 60-120, \u0026gt; 120 days). Numerical variables were compared using t-test or ANOVA, and categorical variables with \u03c7\u003Csup\u003E2\u003C\/sup\u003E or Fisher\u2019s exact test where appropriate. All analyses were performed using R version 4.0.3 (R Foundation). This study was approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee and all participants consented to participate.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv class=\u0022section\u0022 id=\u0022sec-3\u0022\u003E\u003Ch2 class=\u0022\u0022\u003EResults\u003C\/h2\u003E\u003Cp id=\u0022p-23\u0022\u003E129 children diagnosed with COVID-19 between March and November, 2020 were enrolled (mean age of 11 \u00b1 4.4 years, 62 (48.1%) female). Subsequently, three developed Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (2.3%) and two myocarditis (1.6%).
