Equipment
Eye tracking is the process of measuring the point of gaze of a subject, and an eye tracker is a device that performs this measurement by measuring eye positions and eye movement. There have been a number of methods described for measuring eye gaze.26 Currently, the most popular variant uses video images from which the eye movement is extracted. The advent of digital technology and fast image processing has allowed advancement in the field of eye-tracking technology to provide practical devices
Normal Adults
Eleven of the 12 normal adults performed all 3 SVOP tests (binocular, left eye, and right eye). The remaining 1 adult performed the SVOP binocular visual field test and left eye visual field test. All adults had normal visual fields confirmed by HFA testing. Figure 4 shows an example of a subject in whom all points from each of the 3 tests were correctly diagnosed, that is, all points were correctly identified as “seen” except the blind spots present in the left and right eye tests,
Discussion
This study's aim was to determine the feasibility of a new technique called SVOP, developed for assessing visual fields in young children unable to perform any type of current quantitative visual field testing. To do this, we used a variety of normal subjects and subjects with visual field defects. Adults were included because they could provide comparable results by undertaking the HFA C-40 test and the SVOP test, and children were included to demonstrate that the technique is both feasible
