In contrast, some groups observed complete eradication of test organisms after microwave sterilization.3,4 In a review of catheter sanitation practices Bogaert et al noted that microwave heating was only bactericidal against E. coli and not Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Staphylococcus aureus.6
