We monitored SARS-CoV-2 viral loads over time and across different patient populations. We analyzed RT-PCR results according to samples types, gender, age, and health units and compared SARS-CoV-2 viral load to other respiratory viruses, representing a total of 28’373 RT-PCR results including 22’323 SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR. The importance of viral load to predict contagiousness and clinical prognosis is discussed.Competing Interest StatementThe authors have declared no competing interest.Funding StatementNo external funding was received.Author DeclarationsI confirm all relevant ethical guidelines have been followed, and any necessary IRB and/or ethics committee approvals have been obtained.YesThe details of the IRB/oversight body that provided approval or exemption for the research described are given below:BASEC approved the studyAll necessary patient/participant consent has been obtained and the appropriate institutional forms have been archived.YesI understand that all clinical trials and any other prospective interventional studies must be registered with an ICMJE-approved registry, such as ClinicalTrials.gov.
