Here, based on screening of 11,072 clinical notes containing a COVID-19 related word (“corona“, “COVID”, “virus”, “epidemic”, “pandemic”, and “contaminate/contamination”), we report data on 918 adult patients from a psychiatric treatment setting in Denmark that display psychiatric symptoms (especially anxiety), which appear to be related to the pandemic and/or its consequential societal changes. This finding underlines the necessity of taking urgent action to mitigate the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on individuals with mental disorders.Competing Interest StatementThe authors have declared no competing interest.Funding StatementThis project is supported by an unconditional grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation (Grant number: NNF20SA0062874).Author DeclarationsAll relevant ethical guidelines have been followed; any necessary IRB and/or ethics committee approvals have been obtained and details of the IRB/oversight body are included in the manuscript.YesAll necessary patient/participant consent has been obtained and the appropriate institutional forms have been archived.YesI understand that all clinical trials and any other prospective interventional studies must be registered with an ICMJE-approved registry, such as ClinicalTrials.gov.
