Against many challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic to the humanity, the pace of solutions created by mankind is exemplary; diagnostics, vaccines, alternate therapies, to name a few. With a rapidly changing virus strain, its early identification in the community can be a quick solution to trace the individuals and thus control its spread. This paper describes PCR based quick method for differentiation of Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 from other variants. Timely identification of this new variant will enable better management of pandemic control in the population.Competing Interest StatementThe authors have declared no competing interest.Funding StatementThis study did not receive any fundingAuthor DeclarationsI confirm all relevant ethical guidelines have been followed, and any necessary IRB and/or ethics committee approvals have been obtained.YesThe details of the IRB/oversight body that provided approval or exemption for the research described are given below:Nasopharyngeal swab samples which we use in this study were collected by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR, India) approved COVID-19 regional diagnosis laboratories (private and government). GBRC is also an authorized COVID-19 testing centre approved by Indian Council of Medical (ICMR) and also a member of Indian SARS-COV-2 Genome Sequencing Consortium (INSACOG), Government of India.
