These policies should prioritize research in those areas with the greatest impact on society, and particularly in health research, this impact should be focused on responding to clinical problems of the population rather than economic impact. A methodology is proposed that uses information from open sources to identify discrepancies between the results of the most translational research of a region and its health needs, in order to provide useful information for the formulation of innovation policies.Competing Interest StatementThe authors have declared no competing interest.Funding StatementThis work has been carried out with the help AT-6052, entitled "Prospeccion de Campos Tecnologicos en Biomedicina mediante el Analisis Estrategico de Patentes", funded by the Consejeria de Economia, Conocimiento, Empresas y Universidad and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund ( ERDF)Author DeclarationsI confirm all relevant ethical guidelines have been followed, and any necessary IRB and/or ethics committee approvals have been obtained.YesThe details of the IRB/oversight body that provided approval or exemption for the research described are given below:Ethics approval was not required for this studyAll necessary patient/participant consent has been obtained and the appropriate institutional forms have been archived.YesI understand that all clinical trials and any other prospective interventional studies must be registered with an ICMJE-approved registry, such as ClinicalTrials.gov.
