We retrospectively collected data of patients fulfilling the following criteria: 1) cervical cancer stage 1A1 (by FIGO staging revised in 1994) without invasion of the lymphovascular space diagnosed by conization from September 2008 to July 2018, 2) FDG PET within 3 months after diagnosis, 3) lymph node metastasis suspected by FDG PET, and 4) histologic confirmation or follow-up imaging study for suspected lymph node metastasis. Lymph node metastasis was suspected in 31 regions in 18 patients; however, no true metastasis was found. In conclusion, lymph node metastasis suspected by FDG PET in microinvasive cervical cancer after conization might be false positive. Lymph node dissection should not be performed for such patients.Competing Interest StatementThe authors have declared no competing interest.Funding StatementNo fundingAuthor DeclarationsI confirm all relevant ethical guidelines have been followed, and any necessary IRB and/or ethics committee approvals have been obtained.YesThe details of the IRB/oversight body that provided approval or exemption for the research described are given below:The protocol was reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board of each participating institutes (Seoul National University Bundang Hospital IRB, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea / Inha University Hospital IRB, Inha University hospital, Inha University School of Medicine, Incheon, Republic of Korea / Samsung Seoul Hospital IRB, Samsung Medical Center, Seoul, Republic of Korea / Severance Hospital IRB, Yonsei University College of Medicine, Seoul, Republic of Korea / CHA Gangnam Medical Center IRB, CHA Gangnam Medical Center, Seoul, Korea / Seoul St. Mary's hospital IRB, Seoul St. Mary's hospital, Seoul, Korea / Konkuk University Hospital IRB, Konkuk University Hospital, 263 Achasan-ro, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul 05030, Korea / Kyung Hee University Hospital at Gangdong IRB, Kyung Hee University Hospital at Gangdong 892, Dongnam-ro, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, Korea)All necessary patient/participant consent has been obtained and the appropriate institutional forms have been archived.YesI understand that all clinical trials and any other prospective interventional studies must be registered with an ICMJE-approved registry, such as ClinicalTrials.gov.
