TY - JOUR T1 - Isolation thresholds for curbing SARS-CoV-2 resurgence JF - medRxiv DO - 10.1101/2020.11.20.20235291 SP - 2020.11.20.20235291 AU - Laith Yakob Y1 - 2020/01/01 UR - http://medrxiv.org/content/early/2020/11/22/2020.11.20.20235291.abstract N2 - Self-instigated isolation is heavily relied on to curb SARS-CoV-2 transmission. Accounting for uncertainty in the latent and prepatent periods, as well as the proportion of infections that remain asymptomatic, the limits of this intervention at different phases of infection resurgence are estimated. We show that by October, SARS-CoV-2 transmission rates in England had already begun exceeding levels that could be interrupted using this intervention alone, lending support to the second national lockdown on November 5th.Competing Interest StatementThe authors have declared no competing interest.Funding Statementno external funding was receivedAuthor DeclarationsI confirm all relevant ethical guidelines have been followed, and any necessary IRB and/or ethics committee approvals have been obtained.YesThe details of the IRB/oversight body that provided approval or exemption for the research described are given below:N/A - no clinical data are presenetedAll necessary patient/participant consent has been obtained and the appropriate institutional forms have been archived.YesI understand that all clinical trials and any other prospective interventional studies must be registered with an ICMJE-approved registry, such as ClinicalTrials.gov.
